| Cranston High School West is a sprawling campus nestled in the
western part of the City of Cranston. The school is comprised of five
buildings; one of these buildings is the Cranston Area Career and
Technical Center. The school grounds include 6 tennis courts, baseball
field, track and football field.
Cranston West has 155 professional staff members who work with
our student population of approximately 1750. The program of studies
encompasses 203 different courses offered through West. The Cranston
Area Career and Technical Center offers 17 different courses. All
courses are geared toward student academic abilities. Fifty-two
percent of our graduates go on to pursue a four-year degree. Twenty-two
percent pursue a 2-year degree. Every year our school has representation
in the National Honor Society and the Rhode Island Honor Society.
For the past four years the Career and Technical Center has won
the most VICA and DECA medals in the state. West students truly
aspire to high academic goals.
Not only do our students receive recognition for their academic
achievements, but they also receive countless awards in the fine
arts. Every year West students earn medals and keys in the Regional
and National Art Competitions. Some of our students have received
full scholarships to continue their education in art. The music
department is another area for our students to show their creative
skills. The Falcon Band and the West Chamber Choir are award winning
performance groups that have performed both nationally and internationally.
This is only a sampling of the exemplary programs offered at West.
In addition to the many exceptional academic
and fine arts courses available to students, West offers
many extra-curricula activities. These various activities ensure
that students have the opportunity to have an academic and social
balance to their high school experience. Please browse through our
descriptive list of the activities offered
at West. We are proud of our school, our students, and the programs
we offer to them.
