Although the Program of Study listed above has the complete list of elective choices provided by the district, Cranston High School West offers a selected list that can be offered based on our staffing resources. For your reference, the elective checklist 8th grade students will find on their recommendation is listed below. It is suggested that students choose electives that satisify the fine art and technology requirement during their freshman year. If students are not proficient in the Microsoft Office programs or feel a good review in these programs is necessary, computer literacy (course 524 or 521M) is strongly suggested. Students proficient in these programs are encouraged to select another elective that will meet the technology requirement. These courses are in bold text below. Those courses that satisy the fine art requirement are in bold and italiziced text below. All students are required to select a minor (M) option which will meet opposite physical education. Students are then asked to select electives to fill two addition periods. Please refer to the sample schedules below.

Students will complete a reading test at the middle school. The results of this test will determine if students need a remedial reading course at the high school. Student schedules will be adjusted accordingly if this required support class is necessary for your student. Please remember, these are requests only. Oversubscription and scheduling conflicts may necessitate course changes.
