Third Grade
In
the Reading Street Program, the third-grade classes are working on the theme of
cultures. Skills include capitalization, drawing conclusions, the
spellings for the "aw" and "oo"
sounds, and compound sentences.
In
Math, we are just finishing the unit entitled "Stories, Tables and
Graphs" and will begin the "Finding Fair Shares" (fractions) unit
soon.
We
are studying "people on the move" in Social Studies and will soon
begin working on a pioneer theme. Our fourth quarter unit for Science is
"Matter, Energy and Forces". We are also working on writing
narratives and the "Main Event" from Empowering Writers. The
"Main Event" section helps us to develop the main part of a writing
piece.
We really enjoyed our trips to the Joy Homestead. In June, the homestead
will be commemorating the march of Revolutionary War soldiers
right past the homestead site! We are also eagerly awaiting our Joan Montaquila book orders and related activities.
As always, we thank you for your interest and support! HAPPY SPRING!!
