Welcome to Orchard Farms Elementary School
Today, I was passing out high honors and honors certificates to the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. I was congratulating their fine achievement. Those that had not received a certificate seemed puzzled at what they could do for next quarter. We discussed decisions they could make…and I stressed that I can tell them, teachers can tell them, and parents can tell them but until they make that decision for themselves it will not happen. That little effort…that little more they could do…that organization, studying, and willingness to complete that assignment has to be put out by the student. Congratulations to all of those that have decided and I ask others…What have you decided today?

The holidays always bring back memories. We remember times that we have spent with family and friends, advice they have given us, and the gatherings that were memorable just because of their presence.

It`s funny how time can cleanse the hard or bad times from our permanent memory. We remember the positive things that have transpired and the negatives fade. We always remember that the good far outweighs the bad as time passes. So, why don`t we realize that sooner?

This holiday season let us put those good things at the top of our memory list.

· We have people that care about us.
· We work in and attend a great school.
· We are lucky enough to live where we do.
· We realize that we indeed do have a good life.
· It may not be all…but far and away most of it is   good.

The short list surely is impressive. Many in this world do not have the privileges that we enjoy. So, we are thankful. We are thankful for our memories, thankful that our present is good, thankful that our future is filled with promise, and thankful that we are here.
Pass the turkey…
