The 7th and 8th grade math curriculums have been rewritten this summer by a group of teachers representing all three Cranston Middle Schools.   All of the middle schools will be following the same curriculum and using the same books.  This will allow for all of our students to be assessed equally across the city as well as provide for a smooth transition in the case of a student who needs to move from one school to another.

Students across the city will be taking two Common Assessments this year at each grade level in the Middle Schools in Math.  One will be given in the first semester and one in the second semester.

The topics we will cover this year in both grades include Numbers and Operations, Data, Statistics and Probability, Functions and Algebra, and Geometry and Measurement.  Students who are enrolled in Algebra I will be following the outline of the book.

We are in the process of NECAP preparation at Park View in order to prepare our students for the tests in October.

Every math teacher is available to provide extra math tutoring after school.  It is the student’s responsibility to contact her/his teacher and to arrange a time for extra learning after school.  Students will also need to arrange their own transportation home as there are no late busses at this time.  As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact your student’s math teacher by calling 270-8090.
