The Math Department at Park View Middle School serves students in grades 6, 7, & 8.
Below you will see links to the various Cranston Curriculum outlines that have been written by
Cranston teachers aligned to the Math Common Core Standards.

In addition, your student will access to their math teacher if extra help is required.  The student
must arrange with the teacher a time agreeable to both teacher and student for when that help
will occur.  Completing homework and asking for help will ensure success in math.

During the school year, team wide after school homework clubs will take place and students will
also be able to take part in extra math help.

For students who excel in Math, there is the MathCounts club.  This club is by invitation from the
student’s math teacher.  It is a competition, which will be held in March in RI.  Students meet on
a weekly basis with Teacher Coordinator(s) to solve problems of increasing difficulty.  Watch for recommendation letters to come out in late September.  Meetings should begin in late
September/early October.

Sixth Grade Curriculum:  This year begins a new year with sixth grade returning to the middle
schools.  We will be using the Eureka Math program, which involves six modules of study, giving
students a deeper understanding of select key topics:  Ratios and Unit Rates, Arithmetic
Operations including Division of Fractions, Rational Numbers, Expressions and Equations, Area
Surface Area and Volume Problems, and Statistics.  Each student will need one heavy duty binder approximately 1 and ½  inches large.  Each unit will be given to the students(all units will be
printed by the school)  and we expect that they will keep the units in this large binder.  This
binder WILL STAY AT SCHOOL.
